While at first glance the artwork may simply appear as a sunset over the sea, transcendence has been designed to show the transcending between the Realms and Elements of the Universe, the Coalesce of Colours, the Fluidity that we all so badly need and the ability to still stand out and shine.
The true depth of the artwork can only be explored when taking a closer look. It can be inferred that the piece represents how the action of living on a day-to-day basis is insufficient for human beings; we need to transcend, escape. We need meaning, understanding, and explanation to further ourselves and improve in various aspects and situations in our life.
The artwork, transcendence was created by merging various pictures of the sun and sea together. The stunning sunset was a shot taken in Singapore itself and the image of the sea was taken at Byron Bay, Australia. Apart from the merged images, the addition of brush strokes and textures add to the depth of the image.
